Proof of Death Letter

The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office provides what's called a Proof of Death letter. Many, if not all, coroner's offices in the United States, as well as many hospitals, will provide proof of death letters. Many insurance companies may request such a document when it comes to life insurance policies. Banks and other entities may request one as well after someone passes away. You do not have to be next of kin to request a proof of death letter.

This is the page at the Los Angeles County Coroner's website regarding Proof of Death letters: http://coroner.lacounty.gov/htm/prfdth.htm

On May 26th I filled out an email form at the LA Coroner's website inquiring Michael's proof of death letter. The next day, May 27th I received a response back. This is what the coroner's office told me:

You can order a Proof of Death Letter by sending a check or money order for $14.00 to Department of Coroner 1104 N Mission Rd L A CA 90033.

The next day I sent in a money order for $14 to the LA County Coroner's Office. Over a week later, June 7th to be exact, I received the proof of death letter in the mail. To be honest, I was a little surprised they sent it to me. I was shaking when I opened the envelope. I felt sick. There it was - Michael Jackson's Proof of Death letter. Signed by Marsha Grigsby from the coroner's office. It was her real signature - not a stamp of someone's signature.

I've taken a lot of pictures of this document that was sent to me. Check out the one's I have posted prior to this blog post.

Don't bother bringing up Joe vs Joseph. Do you have a copy of his birth certificate?
